Let’s savour these moments and collect more memories!
Growing-up travel and little vacations were a huge part of my life, my parents were big on taking us on trips from a very young age (yup I did Disney at the age of two) and I think a lot of that stuck with me and made me want to keep travelling and sharing this joy with our children.
While we have not done a huge trip with the kids yet… stay tuned for that hopefully in the future, we have taken them on a few local trips that we’ve all really enjoyed!
Last week we did a last-minute mini getaway to Niagara and I wanted to share some of the details from our trip with all of you.
Our trip was over three nights/ four days and we visited: Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake and Crystal Beach, Fort Erie. One of the things we kept in mind while we were in Niagara was to keep things simple… a beach day, ice cream and kite flying were at the top of the list for our kids, so we kind of stuck to that.
Niagara Falls, Canada
We stayed in Niagara Falls and were lucky enough to find a room overlooking the falls, even though we booked last minute. We spent the first afternoon and evening walking around the falls and ate at a great spot with a view overlooking the falls a sunset.
Niagara-on-the-Lake
On our second day, we took the scenic drive from Niagara Falls to Niagara-on-the-Lake (which is one of our favourite places to visit). The kids brought kites (I found the cutest Melissa and Doug Kites on Amazon) and we spent the afternoon flying kites in the beautiful park, had lunch by the water and stopped for ice cream at one of our favourite shops, Victoria Gallery.
Crystal Beach, Fort Erie
Our boys and baby girl love the beach, so we made sure to include a beach day as part of our trip. We had breakfast and dinner at the Falls on the third day, but took a quick drive (25 minutes) to Crystal Beach for the day and I think this may have been the boys’ favourite part of the trip! Crystal Beach is a beautiful spot in Fort Erie, Ontario with warm, clear water and white sandy beaches; perfect for building sand castles and swimming with little ones.
Niagara Falls, Canada
On our last day, the kids were super excited about taking a ride down and then back up the Incline, which is stroller friendly (our double stroller fit on the ride) and gave them a great view over looking the falls. We had dinner overlooking the falls again and then took a ride down to the falls on The Incline at sunset. The boys called it the roller coaster ride and it was such a great way to end the trip!
Yes, traveling with kids can be tough and booking last minute is a bit crazy, but in the end we had an awesome time and even though we were only an hour-and-a-half outside of Toronto it really felt like a vacation!
Wishing you all a Happy Long Weekend and Happy Travels if you’re planning a getaway!

It sounds so nice! I went to Niagara when I was younger but I don’t remember it at all, so I’m definitely going to have to go back. Thanks for sharing.
