Wow! It’s been almost a year since I’ve posted a blog!
What a year it’s been. So many changes, ups-and-downs. It’s been a year where we’ve had “nothing” to do in terms of plans outside of the house, but so much to do with the little ones here at home that finding the time to blog has felt almost impossible. Well… things are finally looking up and we’ve taken a little family trip and I am writing again!
After sharing some stories on Instagram during our family getaway to Niagara-on-the-Lake, I had a lot of questions about our trip and family friendly recommendations. So I’ve decided to write a blog post in addition to our Instagram posts, so I can share more details.
We love NOTL and have been going there for years as a couple (for “romantic” getaways) and more recently with our whole family. There are so many things to do and honestly we have found that the town is very kid-friendly! Here are some of our favourite places to stay, eat and do while in Niagara.
Where to Stay

We absolutely love staying at The Pillar and Post Inn and Spa when we visit NOTL. You get the “resort” feel without having to travel very far. Boasting incredible amenities like a beautiful full-service pool area where you can relax by the pool, order your favourite drink and also have something to eat.
The on-site restaurant, The Cannery, is delicious and the patio is such a beautiful little oasis.
They’ve also added some gorgeous garden spaces at The Pillar and Post with a great play-area and snack bar. Where we grabbed some ice-cream sandwiches and let the kids play.

Where to Eat

The Cannery
If you decide to stay at The Pillar and Post, the on-site restaurant,The Cannery, is the perfect spot for breakfast or dinner. We absolutely love the patio area and the food is always incredible!
The Harp Irish Pub
For a more casual dining experience we also had an early dinner at The Harp Irish Pub. The patio is so magical looking at night with all of the twinkle lights and it felt very relaxed to eat dinner there with all three kids. They also have Live Music some evenings, which is so much fun!
The Olde Angel Inn Pub
The Olde Angel Inn Pub is also such a great spot for casual dining. They have a great beer garden around the back of the Inn and it’s so spacious! The kids had a great time eating there as well.
Kid-Friendly Things to Do

Take a Trolley Ride
If you are staying at one of the Vintage Hotels in town, a Trolley Ride is such a fun way to site see. Our kids loved this so much!
Go on a Horse and Buggy Ride
We’ve done the Horse and Buggy ride a few times with the kids in both summer and winter and they are big fans of this as well.
Visit the Many Shops…Like ….
Victoria Teas & Coffee
Whenever we visit NOTL there are a few shops we make sure to check out.
We love Victoria Teas & Coffee for their incredible coffee beans, but when we have the kids with us, we will often stop in for ice cream too.
Just Christmas
Our kids love to stop in and shop at Just Christmas when we are in NOTL and we we often buy our yearly Christmas ornament when we are there.
Olde Tyme Candy Shoppe
Of course, visiting the Candy shop is always a hit with our kids. They literally could not believe their eyes last time we went there because of “all the candy!”.
Visit the Falls!

We didn’t make it to the falls this trip, but we often spend some time visiting Niagara Falls when we take the kids to Niagara-on-the-Lake. The love walking around and there are a lot of attractions near the falls for them to see too. We often bring a picnic with us or stop in at one of the many restaurants near the falls. Check out my blog post on visiting The Falls with kiddos here https://josephineacreativelife.com/2019/07/31/our-mini-vaction-to-niagara/ for more details on the fun things to do at The Falls.
