Saturday Snacks: Three Farmers Roasted Chickpeas

IMG_6669Me (at least three times before anyone moves): “Ok everybody let’s get our shoes on, time to go!”

Our Three-Year-Old: “But I’m hungry mama!”

Our Toddler (throwing a mini tantrum): “Snack, snack, snack … no shoes!”

I’m not sure how many times I say this before we actually get out the door and while I’m saying it, someone has already taken one shoe off, the hats have found their way off the boy’s heads and onto the floor and everyone always wants a snack.

IMG_6657Even though we try to slow down on the weekends, there’s always somewhere to go, whether we want to make a quick trip down the street to the Farmer’s Market, or need to head out to the grocery store, the challenge of getting two little ones out the door doesn’t stop on Saturdays.

IMG_6651That’s why we are loving the Roasted Chickpeas and Pea Pops  from Three Farmers, a small Canadian company run by second and third generation farmers! Not only are they a quick and convenient snack that I can throw in the diaper bag or my purse before we head out the door, they are also a healthy option that both boys like and that’s not always easy to find. Chickpeas are rich in protein and fiber and they are nut free, so they would make for the perfect school or preschool snack as well.

This past Saturday we didn’t leave the house until 11:00am to walk over to our local Farmer’s Market, something we try to do as often as possible in the summer months, but of course, by the time we were finally ready to leave, everyone wanted a snack. So, I grabbed a couple Pea Pop Snack Packs (the perfect size for our little ones) as we headed out the door and everyone was pretty happy!

IMG_6662I like to keep things simple when it comes to kid’s snacks, something I can fit in the diaper bag and something healthy that will tie them over between meals. I don’t know about you, but I find that crackers, cookies and other crumbly foods don’t really work well when it comes to packing them into the bag. By the time the kids are ready to eat them they are a crumbly mess. The Pea Pops are great for this, they don’t crumble in the bag and are bite sized, so they really work well. If you’re looking for something healthy and delicious to throw into the diaper bag this summer before heading out to the beach, the market or anywhere really these are great!

If you want to give these a try, head on over to the Three Farmer’s Website below and get out the wide variety of  Roasted Chickpea flavours and their Camelia Oil as well.
