Style me Simple Series: 90’s Girl at Heart

Ok so I am a 90’s girl at heart and can’t really express in words how excited I am that overalls are back with a vengeance. When I think of overalls, I think of the iconic sitcom stars of the 90’s like Jennifer Aniston of Friends or Helen Hunt of Mad About You, yup I grew up on these shows (like so many of us did) and loved the way these ladies dressed back then and am way too happy about this trend making a comeback.

I can picture Helen Hunt in her overalls (I think she may have even been pregnant on that season of the show) and wanting to dress like her then. I loved everything that these overalls represented, trendy, comfy, practical and kinda fun. Well it’s overall time over here and I’m not holding back. These might get worn out before they go back out of style and I might even throw on a pair of heels with them, because why the heck not!

Now that I’ve expressed my super geeky obsession with 90’s sitcoms and my favourite TV icons of the time period, I’m going to talk about these overalls.As a mom of two little ones I’m always looking for simple pieces that are practical, easy to style (one pieces are great for this) and fun. Since I’m breast-feeding, these overalls actually work really well with a button-up blouse underneath. They are super comfortable and when I’m heading out for a meeting, dinner or just a day out, I can totally dress these up with a pair of heels or little booties for a completely different look.

When I finally found them, the ones I wanted that is, I was so happy to find out that one of my favourite Toronto e-boutiques Smithery Style carried them.
