“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” – Aesop
There’s something about giving back that brings joy in even the toughest situations.
I’ve always known that I wanted to use this space and my voice to make a difference, and over the past few years this has really started to take centre stage for my blog!
That’s why I am so excited to officially share with all of you that I am going to be working with Mamas for Mamas as the Ontario Kindness Ambassador! This is something has been in the works for some time now, and I can’t wait to take you all along with me on this new journey!
When I started Josephine: A Creative Life, it was right before our oldest was born and I spent a large portion of that year trying to find ways that I could help other moms. Motherhood did not come easily to me, like many first time moms I struggled through each stage. While I was going through this, I became aware of the fact that this struggle would be heightened if you added financial burdens into the equation. That’s when giving back really started to become a focus for me here in this space. As a result, Josephine: A Creative Life, along with family and friends, has been holding an annual charity event called Holiday with Heart for years now to help raise money for mothers and families in need and this is something that I hope we continue to do in the years to come. The decision to join Mamas for Mamas is a huge one for me as I plan to make giving back a year-round project for my blog.
Mamas for Mamasis a national charitable organization that supports mothers and caregivers in crisis by providing ongoing support to individuals facing poverty-related struggles. They are changing the landscape of poverty in Canada through their innovative approaches to financial barriers, and using a holistic approach that is committed to offering a hand up not just a hand out to those struggling by providing them essential needs. At the head office in Kelowna, BC there is a beautiful Karma market where struggling families can access the things they need for free; from clothing to baby formula. Mamas for Mamas has begun the process of expanding digitally across Canada and I am so excited to be a part of this movement here in Ontario!
As The Ontario Kindness ambassador, I will be sharing the many ways that we can help-out and give back here in our local communities; using this platform to help spread the word about the amazing things this Canadian Charity is doing! In addition to this, there also some collaborative projects that are in the works with Mamas for Mamas.
My hope is that this space (my blog and social networks) will be a place where I can share ways that we can give back right here in our Ontario communities! In response to some of your requests about donating locally, I have taken this step to help share information on ways that we can all lend a hand. The exciting part about it is there is still lots more to come!!
In a time like this, as we all try to navigate the stress and changes that have come as a result of COVID-19, Mamas for Mamas is an organization that a lot of our community members will be leaning on for support. Right now, Mamas for Mamas is doing so much to help mothers and families in need, so today I am sharing some of the ways that you can give back!
