Style me Simple Series: Dress up Days

img_1344Most days I wear a “mommy uniform;” cozy track pants with pockets (I save the leggings for outings or running errands) and a nursing tank with a cardi over it that I don’t mind getting poop, puke or milk on. But once-in-a-while, I love finding an opportunity to get dressed up and feel great. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve perfected the trackers and sweater look and find ways to feel great in this too, but there’s something about putting on a dress and some heels that makes me feel refreshed. The hardest part about this is finding a dress that’s easy to wear (wash and wear) because most days are a mad dash to get out of the house.

Coffee brewing, baby nursing and a toddler eating his banana on the couch (bad idea, but it happens most days) oh and me still in my pyjamas or robe because getting dressed more than five minutes before leaving the house could mean the difference between a clean outfit or a puke, poop or milk stain. So right before I head out the door, I want an outfit that’s easy to throw on and something that I feel great in. That’s why I love a good sweater dress like this Charcoal Floral Printed Sweater Dress from PinkBlush. Something simple (wash and wear, which works best for me, because I don’t iron) and easy to dress up or down depending on the occasion.

img_1340 PinkBlush is an online boutique that carries maternity, nursing and women’s wear, so it’s the perfect place to find great transitional pieces that will work for you throughout pregnancy into motherhood. As a new mom, who’s basically been either pregnant or nursing for the past two years, Pink Blush has become one of my favourite shops! I bought two dresses from there while pregnant and was so happy to partner with them and write a review of this fabulous floral print dress.

img_1330 I love a good dress, it really can be an outfit maker, a ‘one-and-done’. You throw it on, find a cute pair of shoes or boots and your whole outfit is ready to go. As a mom of two-under-two the ‘one-and-done’ outfit maker is a must for those days when you’re rushed and just want to get everyone ready to go quickly.

This floral print sweater dress caught my eye because of its sweet ‘romantic’ pattern, but also because it’s such a great transitional piece. I can wear it in the winter and well into the spring. Our house is tiny, so transitional pieces like this work really well in small wardrobes.

img_1317In addition to being able to wear this dress through multiple seasons, it’s also the perfect post pregnancy dress. Right after the birth of my son I tried wearing tight fitting dresses and didn’t feel great in them, this dress is a looser fit, but still makes me feel feminine. It’s perfect for date night or for work (with a jacket or blazer over it). I will pretty much find any excuse to wear a dress especially a floral print or lace one.
