A Cozy Canadian Christmas Gift Guide

img_0492Over the past year or so I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some absolutely amazing small shop owners and I’ve kinda fallen in love with the Canadian small shop scene. So I’ve decided to compile a list of my favourite Canadian Christmas Gift ideas for all of you. There’s everything you need to cozy-up this Christmas, from holiday coffee to cuddly socks and sweaters for the whole family, I’ve got you covered.

  1. Loops for Days Beanies:

One of my favourite mompreneurs, Courtney was one of the very first features I ever did on my blog! Her hand knit hats are absolutely stunning! These matching Hudson beanies from Loops for Days look adorable on our little guys and would make the perfect gift for little ones. I also have a matching mama hat that would make a great gift as well.

  1. Present Day Gifts Box:

About a year ago I came across Present Day Gifts on Instagram. I saw a picture of this gorgeous box of amazing local products that I loved (all together, in a beautiful box!). Well let me tell you, this is the perfect way to customize your Christmas gifts this year and give your family and friends a little local love. The gift-wrapping is absolutely gorgeous and Sophia does all of the legwork for you, sourcing the best local products for that particular box. There’s a beautiful box for everyone on your list from the coffee lover to the new homeowner. Stay tuned for a full length feature coming up this month!

  1. Brayden’s Beads Teether:

The Brayden’s Beads Teether is a very special part of the gift guide and something that is very dear to our hearts. Created in memory of her son, our friend Felicia started this special small shop, Brayden’s Beads, to keep his name alive. Her creative and unique teethers have beads on them as a reminder of his bravery beads. The teethers are colourful and fun and she is always coming up with something new! Teething is a challenging stage for little ones and these teethers are the perfect baby gift.

  1. Toronto Yoga Mamas Gift Card

Ok so if you’re like me, getting out is a gift in itself and getting out for a yoga class or a massage in a spa-like space is kind of the most amazing gift ever. My husband is all about gift cards that give me a chance to enjoy some much needed me time, and this one was at the top of my list this year. Toronto Yoga Mamas is by far one of the most beautiful spaces I have ever been in and taking class there is amazing. This would make many mamas very happy!

  1. MaiLin Reminder Bracelet:

The Reminder Bracelt is a dainty silt bracelet that you tie on and wear everyday. It’s casual, but also very classy and goes with pretty much anything. The bracelets are the perfect way to remind someone of how much they mean to you or of an experience that you shared together. I love mine and am kind of excited to pass a few of these on this season.

  1. Blonde Sweatshirt

There’s something about this sweatshirt that made me think, I’ve gotta have this. I want to wear it while cuddled up on the couch with a coffee and good book. I bought mine from Smithery Style, another fantastic Canadian e-boutique, that curates clothing for every body type. I seriously love this shop and this sweater. It’s super cozy and very cute. It’s the perfect Sunday sweater for mama, sister, daughter or bestfriend. Oh, and it also comes in Brunette!

  1. MoGreen Sweaters:

MoGreen is one of my favourite blooming boutiques right now! This small shop is owned by a husband and wife duo that was inspired by their adventures with their little one. These sweaters are super soft and the sayings on them really spoke to me. The Hug (Hug it Out) and the Tribe (We are all in This Together) are my favourites and you can get them for mom, dad and the little ones. Also, I’m so excited to be featuring this small shop in the New Year! Stay tuned!

  1. Prismland Hexter Toy

img_4574This Hexagonal soft and educational toy from Prismland is a big hit in our house. With a toddler who loves to cuddle, listen to stories and throw things; soft toys are a must have for us. Prismland is a Canadian company that makes fun educational toys in different shapes. Each toy is accompanied by it’s own storybook that teaches little ones about that particular shape and different places it can be found in the everyday world. Love this!

  1. Magical Creature Onesie:

Ok so the woodland theme is kind of a huge deal in our house and this Magical Creature onesie that I got from Bonjour Baby Baskets  was the perfect gift for our newest addition. Made by Ollie Jones clothing, this onesie is 100% organic cotton and hand dyed. The neutral grey goes perfectly with pretty much anything and could be a great gift for a baby boy or girl. I love me some neutrals!

  1. A Porcupine in a Pine Tree -A Canadian 12 Days of Christmas book:

This book is the perfect way to get your toddler singing this season! Our little guy loves it and asks for it, in song, at bedtime. A Canadian twist on a traditional Christmas Carol, that’s got everything from frolicking Mounties to Toronto Maple Leafs leaping. You can find a copy for the toddlers in your life at Chapters.

  1. Detour Coffee Holiday Blend:

img_0475

Ok so if you take one look at my blog or Instagram feed you can see that I really like coffee! Well there’s a little story behind this and it actually all started with Detour. I won my first bag of Detour Coffee’s Holiday Blend beans in a Christmas game and I didn’t even like coffee at the time. Well after that first cup, I was hooked and this is the honest truth. Before Detour coffee I was a tea drinker, I thought coffee was too strong and had a bitter after taste. Now I drink my Detour in the morning and tea in the afternoon. It’s honestly that good and if you don’t believe me head on over to their website and check out their mission. I am a firm believer that life is too short to drink bad coffee, so if I am going to drink a cup, it’s gotta be good.

  1. Roots Cabin Socks:

You pretty much can’t have a Canadian Christmas without these. When I think cozy, I think Roots Cabin Socks a fluffy duvet and a comfy sweater. They are available for the whole family, but I think they would make the perfect stocking stuffer.

  1. The Sovereign Pullover:

A few weeks ago I walked into a pop-up shop and spotted this sweater from Marq Designs by Melissa Grelo & Shayna Haddon from a mile away. I am a huge fan of monotones/neutrals and this sweater was a must have from the minute I saw it. It’s gender neutral, so you could buy this for any toddler or baby in your life and it would be perfect. My toddler actually lives in this sweater; I wash it just so he can wear it again the next day!

  1. Holiday Ribbon:

I like to do a little DIY during the holiday season, which often includes decorating jars with ribbon for my candied nuts, or just adding a little something special to each gift. Well I’ve searched high and low for beautiful holiday ribbon and my favourite place to get it is at HomeSense, Winners or Marshalls. The ribbons are well made, beautiful and you can find some sweet deals!
